Season Passes
Dear Friends of Theatre Arts,
Silver Hawk Theatre is soaring at Lincoln Southwest High School! In our first five years, we have created a nationally recognized tradition of theatre excellence by producing year after year of successful seasons of outstanding productions and by giving our students the finest theatre education and training!
In 2006, Silver Hawk Theatre received an "Outstanding School Award" from the Educational Theatre Association. In 2007, our production of BLACK ELK SPEAKS received a prestigious invitation to perform on the main stage at the International Thespian Festival and also a Chief Standing Bear Award from the Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs. Also in 2007, our former principal, Mr. Jerry Wilks received the National Administrator Award for his support of LSW Theatre. We are proud to present our sixth season!
We would like to offer you the opportunity to support your local high school theatre. In return, we will provide you with some special benefits. It is people like you who help make Silver Hawk Theatre a success! Since our doors opened five years ago, our theatre program has proudly operated in the BLACK! We hope that you will be one of the many local businesses and individuals who will enjoy our shows by responding to our offer. Community support will enable us to continue our nationally recognized tradition of theatre excellence at LSW
Many people in our community are unaware that a theatre program needs support. Theatre involves much more than memorizing lines and performing on stage. Theatre also encourages our kids to stay in school and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be successful individuals throughout their lives. I am sure you recall special highlights of your high school days. Many times these highlights were extracurricular activities that built your confidence and let you become somebody. Theatre is definitely a confidence-building activity at Southwest. Each student develops self-confidence, self-awareness, initiative, responsibility, dedication, leadership, creative thinking, problem solving, goal setting, time management, group dynamics, and group decision making skills. Students learn all of this in a supportive, creative, and safe environment.
We have over 260 students involved in our shows, but they aren×Ë˙t all on stage. Many work and learn behind the scenes on such things as set construction, costumes, make-up, or publicity. Student crews run all of the scene changes, and sound and lighting equipment. Your support will help us ensure that each student of the 14% of the entire student body involved in Silver Hawk Theatre is an integral part of our program, and so will you!
We invite you to attend all four of our productions in our sixth season and to purchase one of our season passes. A season pass provides you with reserved tickets in the location of your choice to all of our shows, but also includes an important donation that will support our program. Please call after each showË˙s "tickets on sale date" to reserve your seats. The enclosed form explains the season pass packages available. Your donation, of course, is tax deductible.
