Spanish 2 is the second year of a continuing language program. It builds upon the skills learned in Spanish 1. While learning new vocabulary and phrases in Spanish 2, we will also be incorporating a review of the material learned in Spanish 1.

The textbook used in the class is Ven Conmigo Level 2. We will cover Chapters 1-10. Chapter 1 is a review chapter designed to help students feel comfortable with their Spanish from the first year. The last two chapters, Chapters 11 and 12 are also review chapters. We do not cover them in class, but they would be good chapters for students to review on their own to prepare for the next year of the their language learning.

Each chapter contains three sections called Pasos. At the end of each chapter is a vocabulary page which contains the key vocabulary words and phrases which must be learned to be successful in the class. The vocabulary is divided into the three Pasos we study. Students should study this vocabulary every night.

We will cover a Paso in about five to seven days. At the end of each of the first two Pasos, there will be a quiz. The quiz will include listening, reading, writing, and culture sections. At the end of the chapter, we will have a chapter test which incorporates learnings from all three Pasos. Other types of assessment such as oral performance assessments, pop vocabulary and verb quizzes and projects will also be utilized.

Homework will be assigned on a regular basis. Students should keep track of the homework assignments in their planners. Homework assignments will also be posted on the web site. If there is no written homework assignment, students should study vocabulary.
