| Procedures for Maintenance and Repair
Preventive maintenance (PM) Procedures:
The District will compensate industrial technology teachers for PM. Resale accounting and general lab upkeep is considered by the District as inherent in the ITE teacher's general teaching responsibilities.
ITE teachers may choose to participate in PM within the proposed guidelines. If you will not be participating, please inform your department chair or contact person so other PM arrangements can be made. The rate of compensation will be the negotiated workshop rate. ITE teachers will be compensated for PM hours logged beyond the contract day (7 hour day) or on non-contract days.
Procedure for Repair of Equipment and Tools:
ITE teachers will be compensated for performing repairs on ITE equipment and tools. The rate of compensation will be the negotiated workshop rate. ITE teachers will be compensated for repair hours logged beyond the contract day (7 hour day) or on non-contract days. Time spent making repairs during the regular contract day may not be logged as extra hours. Emergency repairs can be made during the school day if the work is done during plan time and the equipment is required for scheduled classes for the remainder of that school day. All repairs completed by high school staff members must have prior approval of the department chair if they are to be logged for extra compensation. All repairs completed by middle level staff members must have prior approval of the ITE Consultant if they are to be logged for extra compensation.
To order tool repair parts, complete an Equipment Repair Parts Request form. The parts will be delivered directly to you. Please send the packing slip to Box 21 upon receipt of the repair parts. If you do not have a repair parts diagram, contact the ITE office.
If the tool repair is needed by someone other than the ITE instructor, fill out the form, mail it, and call the ITE office. If you explain the situation as urgent, the repair need will become a top priority to the ITE office. After your call or receipt of the Repair Request form, the ITE consultant will come to your building, pick up the tool, and deliver it to the service representative. When the repair is completed, the consultant will deliver the tool to your lab. If the tool needing repair is a stationary tool, the ITE consultant will call a service representative and make the necessary arrangements. Please do not make repair arrangements directly with service representatives.
