| Guidelines for Facilities Use
The following guidelines are intended to define proper use of Lincoln Public Schools Industrial Technology Education (ITE) laboratory facilities and associated resources. The intent of the guidelines is insuring proper use of school district resources, equipment, and facilities by all LPS staff. Ultimate responsibility for adherence to these guidelines falls on all LPS staff and building administrators.
DEFINITION OF TERMS LPS Staff: Any person employed by the Lincoln Public Schools on a part-time or full-time basis.
Resources: Materials or other resources of the Lincoln Public Schools. For example: supplies or utilities.
Facilities: Lincoln Public Schools ITE classrooms and/or laboratories
Equipment: All tools, furnishings, and equipment owned by Lincoln Public Schools and located in LPS ITE facilities.
Personal Gain: Material or financial gain resulting from use of LPS resources, equipment, or facilities.
GUIDELINES 1. LPS ITE resources, equipment, or lab facilities may only be used for instructional purposes. No LPS staff member or community member may use any LPS ITE facility or resources for personal gain.
2. LPS ITE resources or equipment may only be used on LPS property for instructional purposes or district approved purposes. Instructional equipment may be transported to and used in off-site instruction, i.e., applied residential construction classes. No resources or equipment may be removed from ITE facilities for personal use by LPS staff or community members.
3. LPS ITE facilities may only be used for instructional purposes. The approval process for ITE facility use for any activity beyond the regular school day ITE instruction, will include a collaborative decision by the affected building principal and ITE staff responsible for the lab to be used.
4. LPS ITE facilities used by outside groups or agencies may not use ITE hand tools or power equipment unless such use is supervised on-site by a Nebraska Department of Education Certified ITE teacher.
5. Outside groups or agencies using LPS ITE facilities may not use LPS instructional or resale materials.
