Guide to Quarterly Grades:
Quarter grades are a letter grade. Grades are based on a number of entries for the quarter. Below you will find a guide to the categories that make up the quarter grade. At this time all grades are evenly weighted.
PS = Practice Sheets - recorded practice outside of class time due every 3 weeks - 210 minutes = 100 pts each
PQ = Playing Quiz - over music - graded 0-99% based on quality of performance. Many of these are done in Smart Music.
PT = Playing Test - musical skills - grades are Pass/No Pass - students have either mastered this skill or not yet.
Written Work - spelling test over musical instruments and music terms.
Instrument Inspection - Quarterly check to make sure instruments are clean and in good working condition.
Note Naming Drill - Computer software designed to assess progress of music reading skills.
Chromatic Scale/Box Drill - Graded Completed or not - wind instruments over the appropriate range of their instrument and for percussion the box drill completed in under 4 minutes.
