About
I like to find out more about what my students do outside of school hours. Like them I am a very active person as well, so I'd like to share a little bit about me with you.
I was raised on a farm just outside of Syracuse, Nebraska. My parents still live in Syracuse. Two of my brothers also returned to Syracuse to raise their families. Ray lives in the house where I grew up and operates our family farm. Wes is a dentist. I have spent a lot of time at my old high school watching their kids participate in activities. My youngest nephew, Wade, graduated last year, but he will be playing basketball for Doane College this year, so I'll be traveling to Crete to watch him this winter. My sister, Nadine, teaches at Roper Elementary School here in Lincoln. My youngest brother, Don, is a law partner at Cline Williams here in Lincoln. I am very proud to be the aunt of 12 nieces and nephews as well as a great niece and great nephew with two more on the way. I had a niece and a nephew get married this past summer, so my family continues to grow.
I have two dogs. I am a huge San Francisco 49er fan so "Niner" is named for them. She is a 14-year-old Bichon. One of my favorite baseball players is Derek Jeter of the Yankees, so "Jeter" is named for him. She is a 3-year-old Cockapoo. They are my constant companions and even enjoy going to the lake with me to jet ski.
I graduated from the University of Nebraska. During my years there I was a member of the women's basketball and softball programs. I started my teaching career at Columbus Scotus High School and then came back to Lincoln to teach at Irving. This is my 25th year of teaching and my 23rd year at Irving.
I am still very active in sports activities, especially running and golf. I also enjoy gardening, reading, and traveling when time allows it. I'm an avid fan of several Husker teams, so attending those events takes up a lot of my spare time.
