Health Education Course Expectations
Attendance: Daily on-time attendance is expected. In accordance with school policy, excused absences should be cleared through the attendance office. Four or more unexcused absences during the term will lead to failure and cause a student to have to repeat the class, which is a graduation requirement.
Make-up Work: For excused absences, generally, one day is allowed for each day missed. Work missed due to truancy, missed may be made up for 60% credit.
Tardies: After two tardies, you must make up the time missed after school (15 minute minimum).
In-class and homework ssignments are given a point value, and should be turned in at the beginning of class on the due date. Assignments turned in late will receive a 20% deduction in possible credit per day late.
Quizzes/ Tests: 20-100 points
Class Projects: Power Point Presentations: 50-100 points
The LSW Grade Scale is as follows:
A: 90-100%
B+: 85-89
B: 80-84
C+: 75-79
C: 70-74
D+: 65-69
D: 60-64
F: below 60
Behavioral Expectations:
1. Treat others as you would like to be treated. An important component of this class involves discussion of teen health issues. Open and honest discussion can best take place in an atmosphere where the dignity of each student is respected.
2. When the teacher begins to speak, students should stop what they are doing and listen.
3. Pop, candy, and other food items are not allowed in class. Water is allowed.
