Academic Connections-Spanish
This is a 12 week clase that will introduce the students to the language and culture of the Spanish speaking world. By the end of the twleve week session the students should be able to (in Spanish) greet people; introduce themselves and others; ask how people are and respond; be able to count to 30, recite the alphabet, express their age and ask another person's age; say where they are from and ask the same; say what school supplies they need, want, or have; express what sports, food, and classes they like (limited); ask what others like; know in which countries Spanish is spoken; misc. cultural information about Hispanic life; and anything else I can share with the students in 12 weeks.
The only supplies students need are paper, a writing utensil, and a folder to keep handouts. We will be using the text "Adelante", which will remain in the classroom. The students will receive a grade of "Needs Improvement" (below 75 percent); "Satisfactory" (75 - 90 percent), or "Commendable" (91 - 100 percent). Students will earn their grades through homework, quizzes, and daily work in class. The students will have handouts on vocabulary that should be studied on their own. All students will be given an handout on class expectations that should be signed by a parent or guardian.
