About
¡Hola! I am Señora Ossenkop, or Señora O. for short if you prefer. This is my third year of teaching Spanish at LHS and I love this place! This year, I will be teaching two sessions of Spanish 4 and one session of Spanish 5. I teach part-time during periods 4,5 6, and 7. I am a native Spanish speaker from Santiago, Chile, where I was born. I moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil when I was five years old and did all my grade schooling there. I kept my Spanish current by always speaking it at home, and keeping in touch with my family in Chile. I am so grateful to have been given the gift of growing up bilingual and being to function in two different cultures. I came to the United States nineteen years ago for six months to learn English. I left the U.S after six months speaking excellent English and engaged! I have been here on a permanent basis for eighteen years. I attended UN-L and graduated with a degree in psychology and secondary education. I am married with two wonderful daughters (ages 12 and 10). They love coming to LHS and meeting my students! They are also gradually learning Spanish. My favorite pastimes are doing yoga, biking, reading, going to movies, traveling, and especially spending time with my family and friends (and five pets--well, sometimes!). I am really looking forward to work with my students this year and teach them to love Spanish! I hope you all have an exciting and successful year here at the High!
