Susan:

Señora Susan Ptacek has been with the Lincoln Public Schools her entire teaching career. With a B.A. from Trinity University and an M.Ed.(plus 36 hours from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln), she joined LPS in 1970. Having taught Spanish and French at several schools (Mickle Middle School, Lefler Middle School, Southeast Community College, Doane College-Lincoln, Lincoln East High School) she has had a variety of experiences. Currently Susan is a Spanish teacher and department chairperson of the World Language Department at Lincoln East.

Susan has been awarded several teaching awards including the Cooper Award for Excellence in Education (2), Nebraska's Outstanding Spanish Teacher of the Year, named to Who's Who of American Teachers (3) and the Nebraska Department of Education World Language Star Award (4) for  professionalism inside and outside the language teaching profession.  She has also presented at local, state, regional and national conferences on teaching, assessment, and technology strategies.  She still loves what she does and has stayed in contact with many former students.

Married and the mother of two daughters, she enjoys scrapbooking with her daughters, needlework, gardening and playing with her granddaughter.

Sra. Susan Ptacek

Sra. Ptacek graduated from Trinity University with a B.A. and then received an M.Ed from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She has over 36 hours in post graduate coursework and has been with the Lincoln Public Schools since 1970.

Having taught 13 years at Mickle Middle School; 1 year at Doane College, Lincoln; Southeast Community College and 20 years at East High School in both French and Spanish, she has a wide variety of experience. She is the recipient of several teaching awards including the Cooper Award for Excellence in Education (2), the Nebraska Department of Education Star Award for contributions to foreign language education and the Nebraska Spanish Teacher of the Year award. Sra. Ptacek "loves what she does" and still stays in touch with many former students.

Personal: Married, with 2 daughters , she likes to spend time doing creative activities (scrapbooking & needlework) and activities with her daughters and husband.
