Orchestra
The Lincoln High Orchestra, one of the oldest school ensembles in the
state. Recognized as one of the state's finest high school orchestras,
it prides itself on the level of music quality, seldom performing
transcriptions. It receives outstanding ratings and favorable judges
comments at all festivals and contests. The Lincoln High Orchestra has
receive 18 straight Division One Superior Ratings, 5 straight Class
Championships and finish second in Grand Championship ratings to the
Lincoln High Symphonic Band and Grand Championships. The orchestra has
also won the Grand Championship at the Festival of the Parks contest in
St. Louis, Missouri.
The Lincoln High School Orchestra traditionally supplies the NMEA Honor
Orchestra, Wesleyan University Chamber Orchestra and Hastings College
Chamber Orchestra with a large number of musicians.
The Orchestra has also performed as an honor guest ensemble at the Nebraska MENC/NMEA Convention.
Many Lincoln High School Orchestra alumni are and have been studying at
many of the finest music schools in the United States. These include:
Berkley, Eastman, Northwestern and the University of Missouri at Kansas
City. They are also performing with professional ensembles across the
United States.
