Links in London

On December 27, 2008 the Lincoln High Marching Band and Orchestra left
London, England for performances in the London New Years Day Parade,St. John's Church on Sloan Square. Included
in the trip were educational tours and trips to the Roman Baths in
Bath, England, Stonehenge, the Tower of London, breath taking views of London while riding the "Eye", a variety of museums,
the British country side, Windsor Castle(the Queens residence),
Buckingham Palace and the Changing of the Guard to name a few of the
exciting cultural and educational opportunities for the Marching Links.
Participation in this world wide event is by invitation from H.M. The Queen through the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London.
Band members, with the help of the outstanding Lincoln High Music
Booster Club, did a variety of fund raisers to raise the needed
funds. Opportunities for businesses and individuals to contribute to
the trip fund or actually sponsor a student with tax deductible aide also aided in making this trip possible for nearly 200 students. href="mailto:trush@lps.org">trush@lps.org
The help we received in assisting fund raising efforts was greatly appreciated.
This was the third participation in the London New Years' Day
Parade the first time being the 1998 New Years Day Parade the second 2003.
The Links will return to home on January 3, 2004.
