Music = Grades
All to often if a parent or prospective instrumental music
student tell me that they cannot be in band or orchestra because they
can‚t afford the time, I respond, „They cannot afford to not be in
band/orchestra‰.
Countless studies have repeatedly shown that participating in a school
instrumental music program leads to less trouble in school, less chance
of being a school dropout, better school attendance, higher math and
science scores, higher college entrance exam scores and general success
in high school.
The following are Lincoln High School Intrumental Music seniors who
were honored at a recent senior recognition day. Honors included
scholarships, 4.0 grade average(most of the students at this level were
in our instrumental program), school and departmental awards and top
3%, most of which were also in the instrumental program.
